报告摘要:
    Layered, lithium and manganese rich transition metal oxide (LMR-composite) is becoming next generation high energy cathode material for lithium ion batteries with superior performance including high capacity (>200mAh/g), low cost, and better thermal stability. This integrated material is usually comprised of a common lithium rich component (Li2MnO3), and one or two other active lithium transition metal oxide components (LiMO2, M generally refers to some combination of Ni, Co, Mn). The Li2MnO3, which can stabilize the structure, will be partially activated and boost the energy density of LMR-NMC. However, the activation process on Li2MnO3 brings in a lot of unknowns, such as structure change, oxidation states of transition metals, role of oxygen et al. In this work, electrochemical characterization, together with XRD, Raman, and electron microscopy, had been carried out to on LMR-NCM and reaction mechanism of the LMR-NCM was attempted.

报告人简介:
    Dr. Wenquan Lu received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 2002. Following a post doc period at University of Virginia and Iowa State University (Iowa) he joined Argonne National Laboratory to take a position as Assistant Professor and start his research on lithium-ion batteries. In 2006 he joined Greatbatch Inc. as a project leader of new technology development and material characterization. In 2008 he returned to Argonne National Laboratory as a Principal Chemical Engineer. He has more than years experiences in the field of electrochemical energy storage area. His current focus is lithium ion battery system development for electric vehicle (EV) applications, including fundamental understanding, applied research and development (R&D), and engineering. He has interest in R&D of advanced battery systems and other renewable energy (solar, wind etc.).
