Prof. Ju Li 教授访问E01小组Electron Microscopy and Electrochemical Energy Storage Research at Li group

Abstract: We apply in situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and lab-on-a-chip to mechanistic investigations of energy nanomaterials. Recent advances in nano-manipulation, environmental TEM and MEMS have allowed one to investigate coupled mechanical and electrochemical phenomena [Nano Letters 15 (2015) 1302; Nano Letters 15 (2015) 1437] with unprecedented spatial and temporal resolutions. We can now quantitatively characterize liquid-solid and gas-solid interfaces at nanometer resolution for in situ oxidation, fatigue and hydrogen damage [Nature Materials 14 (2015) 899] processes. Direct observations of SnO2, ZnO, Si, Ge, graphene and carbon nanotube battery anodes and LiFePO4 nanowire cathode [Nano Letters 14 (2014) 4005] have been performed. I will also discuss about scalable synthesis of high-capacity and high-rate anode (aluminum, silicon @ titania yolk-shell nanostructures [Nature Comm. 6 (2015) 7872]) and cathode (sulfur with carbon black [J. Mater. Chem. A 2 (2014) 19788], lithium sulfide with graphene paper [Nano Letters 15 (2015) 1796]) and supercapacitor materials.

李巨现为麻省理工学院核科学与工程系终身职教授,讲席教授,材料科学与工程系教授,美国物理学会会士(APS Fellow)。他1994年毕业于中国科技大学少年班、近代物理系。2000年在麻省理工学院核工程系获得博士学位。20022007年在俄亥俄州立大学材料系任助理教授、 20072011年在宾夕法尼亚大学材料系任副教授。李巨教授2005年获美国青年科学家工程师总统奖2006年获美国材料学会杰出青年科学家奖(MRS OYI)。2014年汤森路透把他列入全球高被引科学家名单(highlycited.com,材料学科共147人)。主要研究内容为计算材料学以及纳米材料(http://Li.mit.edu)
